At Baptist Regional Medical Center, health care isn't limited to hospital patients. Our staff reaches out into the community to bring better, healthier and happier living to our neighbors. We believe it is our duty as medical professionals to promote well being within our community.
As a not-for-profit organization, we are committed to providing care and services that go beyond what is expected of a hospital, including charity care, education and community involvement. Each year, we reach out to thousands of people in Whitley, Laurel, Knox, Jackson, Clay, McCreary, Bell, Harlan and Campbell counties with educational activities, support groups and fitness services for the entire family:
- Educational Programs include diabetes classes; CPR training; Birthing Center classes; hospital tours; a list of health topics with speakers provided; education programs for schools in the Tri-county area, including the Germbuster program to teach children the importance of handwashing.
- Support Groups for individuals recovering from addiction to alcohol; cancer patients; caregivers; stroke/heart disease, diabetics; individuals with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's Disease; and those with HIV or victims of rape.
- Baptist Family Fitness, a fitness center staffed by trained professionals to help area residents develop healthy exercise plans;
- Lifeline, an emergency response program for elderly or disabled persons who are often alone, but wish to remain independent; and
- National Depression Screening Day, an event which educates people about depression, destigmatizes the illness and finds help for those who are suffering from this disabling disorder.
